Mr. Niu Dehui was a 36-year-old resident of the 112 Group in Shihezi District, Xinjiang Province. He previously suffered from several illnesses, including a stomach parasite, hepatitis and others. In 1998 he was fortunate enough to learn Falun Dafa, and recovered soon after he started studying the Fa. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, and Niu Dehui went to Beijing to appeal to higher authorities in January 2001. He was illegally arrested by the police in Beijing and returned to Shihezi by police officers from the Dongye Town Police Station on October 16. He'd only been home for an hour when he was arrested and detained at the Xiayedi Police Station. On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, his family went to visit him, but party officials refused them, an occurrence which was repeated many times. Finally Niu's family found someone who helped them, and they were then allowed to visit him after he'd been detained for a month. When they went to the police station a few months later, someone told them, "After he was sent to Shihezi, I heard that he was sentenced to two years at the Daquangou Forced Labor Camp in Shihezi, where he was tortured to death on April 27, 2002."
