1. [Changchun] Arbitrary Sentence without Evidence

Three weeks ago, practitioner Ms. Yang in Changchun was interrogated by the police and then detained for 15 days. She was sent to labor camp without trial afterwards under the accusation of "organizing and inciting others to go to Beijing to appeal".

Ms. Yang was visiting her relatives during the New Year holidays when she was arrested. After the New Year's Day, Ms. Yang's relatives went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong as they had planned. The local authorities thus believed that Ms. Yang had incited her relatives to do so.

Ms. Yang's child is still an elementary school pupil and was taken care of by her friends and neighbors during her detention. Numerous families were broken during the crackdown of Falun Gong.

2. [Mianyang City, Si-chuan Province] Practitioners Persecuted for Signing Appealing Letter to NPC Session

Practitioners in Mianyang city wrote an appealing letter to the National People's Congress (NPC) during the NPC session. After it was returned to the Mianyang authorities, the local police department immediately started a new round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.

On March 24, the local chief police officer, the head of the Fourth Sub-factory of the Great Wall Iron and Steel Factory, the head of the security section, the director of the street office and the director of the residential committee forced the 160 practitioners in the Fourth Factory to attend a "meeting". In the meeting, they announced that Falun Gong would be severely attacked and Falun Gong practitioners would be transformed forcefully. Three people are responsible for monitoring one practitioner. As soon as Falun Gong practitioners are found to practice Falun Gong in the public areas or to go to Beijing to appeal or to exchange experiences with each other, they would be punished and those who are responsible for monitoring them would also be in trouble.

Right after the meeting, all practitioners who signed the appealing letter were each imposed a fine ranging from 100 Yuan to 500 Yuan. On the second day, the police arrested a dozen of practitioners who signed the appealing letter and given each of them a 15 days of administrative detention. Four more practitioners in that Factory who have gone to Beijing to appeal are still being detained and might have been transferred to criminal detention.

3. [Zi-zhong County, Si-chuan Province] The Situation in Zi-zhong Women Labor Camp

We are 69 practitioners in the Nan-mu-shi women labor camp of Zi-zhong County, Si-chuan Province.

Two months ago, we Falun Gong practitioners were deprived of the right of meeting and talking to family members. We would be disturbed whenever we talked with each other.

In the labor camp, all members have to work over 12 hours a day with a salary of 5.9 Yuan (a little bit more than half US dollar) per day. Forced-labor "education" is a notorious method that the Chinese government adopts in persecuting people. People could be thrown into the labor camp without a trial. The labor camp could set up many rules at will. For example, our detention would be prolonged for 5 days every time we introduce Falun Gong to others or practice Falun Gong.
