(Clearwisdom.net) News of Jiang Zemin's death recently spread rapidly on the Internet after it was rumored in the Hong Kong media. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tried to hide the story by deleting any mention of it on the Internet and censoring certain keywords. Consequently, people were more eager to search for news about it, thus, accelerating the rumor's spread.

It has been reported that many people in China bought firecrackers and set them off to celebrate. Photos of people displaying fireworks and celebrating with friends toasting champagne spread quickly on the Internet. A popular Internet posting with the headline of “Preparatory Committee for the Celebration of the Death of Jiang Zemin” reported how people gathered at the main entrance of the Hong Kong Liaison Office drinking champagne and eating peanuts to celebrate the death of Jiang.

There are many cases in the history of China where people held large celebrations upon hearing the death of brutal rulers. For example, when Dong Zhuo from Eastern Han Dynasty was killed, people in Changan sang and danced to celebrate his death. Many of them sold their clothes and jewelry to buy wine and meat to celebrate the occasion. Dong Zhuo's body was placed on the street for public display. His body was later burnt into ashes and spread on the streets.

Hong Kong media listed ten crimes committed by Jiang – Jiang was a traitor who betrayed China and suppressed justice, a self-serving authoritarian who was greedy and corrupt, and a liar who covered up SARS and endangered the world. He censored the Internet and silenced dissent, destroyed moral values and tortured good people, clamped down on spiritual beliefs and persecuted religion, and repressed the protests in Tiananmen Square calling for change. He abused human rights and stifled democracy, carried out genocide against Falun Gong practitioners, and administered draconian laws that brought calamity to China and Hong Kong.

Of the above-listed crimes, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, may be viewed as the “the worst of all evils.” When Jiang noticed the enormous social impact Falun Gong in China, he became jealous and determined to use his power to persecute this group of peaceful people. He implemented inhumane policies to “ruin their reputation, torture their body, and bankrupt their finances,” and said “if they are killed, just say they committed suicide,” and “(if they die as a result of the torture) just cremate them without verifying their identity.” He utilized the media and the Internet to slander Falun Gong, spread fabricated lies, and incite hatred. He ordered the use of hundreds of torture methods, brainwashing techniques, and mental torture to force practitioners to renounce their faith. He deprived Falun Gong practitioners jobs and personal property to the point of destitution.

Historically speaking, totalitarian rulers are generally known for their killing of innocent people and disregard for human life. Jiang knew Falun Gong adherents would not use violence to resist, so he brazenly persecuted them by any means and without repercussions of law. Therefore, he directed the agencies to torture Falun Gong adherents and even orchestrated the fake “self-immolation” news event to slander Falun Gong. He also subjected practitioners to organ harvesting; an unprecedented evil on this planet. Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong fundamentally shook China's judicial system and moral values, and is believed by many to be the main cause of China's current problems.

Jiang believed he could eliminate Falun Gong in three months. Instead, Falun Gong now flourishes in more than 100 countries. Jiang was first indicted in Chicago in 2002, and as of April 2009 more than 50 criminal and civil actions had been brought against him for spearheading various crimes against humanity.

The tradition of setting off fireworks during the Chinese New Year is done to ward off evil spirits and welcome the New Year. Displaying fireworks after Jiang's death, symbolizes elimination of the filth and shame brought to the Chinese people, and comes as shock to Liu Jing, Zhou Yongkang, and Luo Gan, three other key individuals in the persecution of Falun Gong.
