(Minghui.org) A woman from Pingtan County was tried without her family's knowledge on October 29, 2014. Her “crime” was distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong.

Ms. Qiu Shanmei's (邱姗媚) loved ones have been denied visitation since her illegal arrest in June, and they are extremely concerned about her. In the few letters she was allowed to send home, Ms. Qiu revealed that her health has been deteriorating quickly over the past few months.

Ms. Qiu Shanmei, who holds a government-issued disability certificate for leg problems, was body searched by the police during her arrest on June 25, 2014. Dozens of Shen Yun DVDs and copies of software to break through the Chinese regime's Internet blockade were found and confiscated.

The police then raided Ms. Qiu's house in the afternoon without producing a warrant, and took away Falun Gong related materials and a thousand yuan in cash that had information about Falun Gong written on the bills.

Ms. Qiu was sent to the local detention center by the Domestic Security Division and detained for 15 days. On July 10, 2014, her family members were ready to bring her home, but were told that Ms. Qiu had been transferred to the Pingtan County detention center. Family members were once again prohibited from visiting Ms. Qiu.

Her arrest was formally approved by the Pingtan County Procuratorate on June 22, and she received the indictment on October 9.

At the detention center, Ms. Qiu wrote a letter to her family, revealing that she has been experiencing stomach pain, blurred vision, and numbness in her limbs to the extent that she requires someone to carry her.

Ms. Qiu wrote a third letter to her family on August 27, 2014. In the letter, she detailed how her health is deteriorating daily. Ms. Qui hasn't been able to eat for two months. She has been feeling hot and cold alternately, is unable to hear and see clearly, and has been nauseated throughout the day. She has also had blood in her urine and experienced acute abdominal pain at times.
