(Minghui.org) Mr. Dong Yanfa from Ji'an City, Jilin Province, was arrested on September 8, for filing criminal complaints against former communist dictator Jiang Zemin on July 6, 2015.

Mr. Dong is suing Jiang for launching the persecution, which led to him being illegally arrested and detained five times and imprisoned for four years for his belief in Falun Gong. He was tortured, and his nervous system was damaged because he was injected with unknown drugs.

Arrested and Home Ransacked

On the morning of September 8, 2015, a female police officer claimed that she needed to check the water meter, so Mr. Dong's wife opened the door. At that point, a group of plainclothes police officers from the Liming Police Station broke into the home, held Mr. Dong to the ground, and handcuffed him.

Mr. Dong implored the officers to take the handcuffs off, asking why they were arresting him. The officers replied that it was because he mailed complaints against Jiang Zemin. Two officers took Mr. Dong to the police station and the rest ransacked his home. They confiscated his computers, Falun Gong books, his identification card, the draft of the complaints, and other personal belongings.

Illegal Action by Police

The police took Mr. Dong to the police station and interrogated him. When the police mentioned the complaints, Mr. Dong asked how they found out about them. The police showed him his original complaints.

“The complaints I mailed to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and Supreme People's Court, are protected by law and are confidential. How did you get the complaints? More importantly, you are the department that executes the persecution of Falun Gong. How could the complaints be in your hands?” Mr. Dong asked.

The police gave him no answers.

The police continued to ask who wrote the letter, and how they were printed and mailed. Mr. Dong said that he mailed them and refused to answer any other questions. The police asked about his family situation and was told that it was all in the complaint, of which nothing was fabricated. The interrogation lasted over an hour.

Three officers took him to the Ji'an City Hospital for a physical exam. An officer showed the hospital an official letter claiming Mr. Dong was a criminal. Mr. Dong stood up for himself, declaring that he was not a criminal and that suing Jiang Zemin is legal. In addition, he spoke out in the hospital lobby, telling others how the police were breaking the law and persecuting him. The police then hurriedly left the hospital and took him to the Ji'an City Detention Center.

Mr. Dong was taken to the hospital at 9:00 a.m. on September 10. When the exam results showed that he had high blood pressure, the detention center told the police to release him. Before he was released, the police interrogated him again, disregarding his health. Mr. Dong refused to sign the interrogation record.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, then head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has killed countless Falun Gong practitioners during the past 16 years. Many have been murdered for their organs. Others have been imprisoned and tortured for their belief. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of this brutal persecution.

Under Jiang's direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security force, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides the police and judicial system. The 610 Office carries out Jiang's directive to eradicate Falun Gong: ruin practitioners' reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Jiang stepped down as head of the CCP in 2002, but he has exerted much power from the shadows through a network of officials he put in place.

Chinese law now allows citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
