(Minghui.org) A physician from Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province recently sued Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist regime, for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her father's death, her mother's labor camp detention, and her own divorce.

Ms. Xie Hongyan, 45, and her mother Ms. Wang Linjian, 68, mailed their criminal complaints on August 14, 2015. They detailed in the complaint their family's ordeal after refusing to give up Falun Gong.

Entire Family Benefits from Falun Gong

Ms. Xie Hongyan and her father Mr. Xie Shiliang were both doctors. Her father was well-known in their area, but still could not cure his illnesses that had tormented him for years.

However his heart disease, stomach problem, and liver cirrhosis disappeared just one month into the Falun Gong cultivation practice, which he began in March 1996. His wife, Ms. Wang, was amazed and began practicing Falun Gong as well. The swelling in her knees soon subsided.

Their daughter Ms. Xie started to practice Falun Gong in 1997 and her heart problems went away shortly afterwards.

Lives Shattered by Persecution

The family's dream to live a healthier and happier life was shattered when Jiang Zemin launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate Falun Gong in 1999.

Simply for refusing to give up their belief, Ms. Xie and her parents were arrested, detained, taken to brainwashing facilities, sentenced to forced labor, imprisoned, tortured, and had their homes ransacked by the authorities.

Ms. Xie Hongyan, 45, stated in her complaint, “Our family was monitored around the clock. We lived in fear day in and day out, and our lives were painful. All this was caused by Jiang Zemin.”

Father Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison and Tortured to Death

Ms. Xie's father Mr. Xie Shiliang was arrested three times and tortured. He was sentenced to a 10-year prison term and passed away in 2012.

He was first arrested on May 12, 2001. Police broke into his home, ransacked it and confiscated his Falun Gong books and other materials. When he asked them to show their identification cards, police kicked him repeatedly. One policeman pushed him to the ground, held him down with his knees and grabbed him by the throat. His face was cut and bleeding. He was then taken to the police station and held in a detention center for 15 days.

Mr. Xie's second arrest happened on April 2, 2002. Several policemen broke into his home, arrested him and pushed him into a police car. They took him to a brainwashing center after several days. Police transferred him to the Wujin Detention Center on April 27, 2002.

His third arrest occurred on May 27, 2002. Police officers detained him in the local Domestic Security Division and then transferred him to the Wujin Detention Center on July 26, 2002.

Wujin Court put him on trial on November 29, 2002, and sentenced him to a 10 year prison term. No one was allowed to attend this “public trial,” including his family members.

In Jiangsu Prison, he was forced to do manual labor and his hands were injured in the process. He was held in a solitary confinement cell.

The guards ordered prisoners to brutally beat him in 2006. His chest ached for several months and he lost all of his teeth. Because of the continuous torture, he spit up blood from internal bleeding.

The prison officials repeatedly denied his family's request for medical parole. The prison officials finally released him in 2010 out of fear that he might die in prison. He was skin and bones by that time.

Upon Mr. Xie's release, judicial officials frequently broke into his home and threatened him. He passed away in 2012.

Mother Given 2 Years of Forced Labor

Ms. Xie's mother Ms. Wang Linjian, 68, suffered under the persecution every time her husband was arrested and their home was ransacked. She was given two years of forced labor and detained in the Jurong Women's Labor Camp.

The first time when police ransacked their home and beat Mr. Xie, she asked, “How could police beat good people?” A policeman slapped her face violently. He grabbed her arms and bent them on his knees.

After Mr. Xie's second arrest on April 2, 2002, his wife was arrested the following day and taken to the same police station.

When Mr. Xie was imprisoned on October 20, 2004, police officers arrested his wife and took her to the Qianhang Police Station. They then transferred her to the Hutang Brainwashing Center.

She was given two years of forced labor and taken to the Jurong Women's Labor Camp during November 2004.

In Despair and Forced to Divorce

In addition to witnessing how her parents were persecuted, Ms. Xie also personally suffered because of the persecution.

Police arrested her and took her to a hotel, where they held and physically abused her for one week in 2003. They also ransacked her home.

Police ransacked her home again on October 20, 2014 and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of the Falun Gong founder and informational materials about Falun Gong. They arrested her and detained her in the Qianhuang Detention Center.

Police took her to the Hutang Brainwashing Center on October 21, 2014, the same place where her mother was detained. However, Ms. Xie and her mother were not allowed to associate.

During the years when her father was imprisoned and her mother was detained in a labor camp, her husband divorced her, and left her and their daughter to fend for themselves.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
