(Minghui.org) Miao, a Falun Gong practitioner, doesn't know the exact date she was born, nor her real name. She must be 100 years old by now. She is in great health and looks like she is in her 70s, thanks to practicing Falun Gong.

Her family gave her away when she was little. Her three-year-old son died in 1938 during the war against Japan. At that time she turned to Buddhism for peace of mind.

She once found a Taoist master and asked to be an apprentice. The master looked at her and told her that he couldn't be her master. “In the future," he said, "a master with the last name Li will take you,”

In 1996 a friend told Miao about Falun Gong. When she learned that the founder's last name was Li, she was ecstatic and decided to become a practitioner.

Miao never went to school and couldn't read Zhuan Falun, the main book of the Falun Gong teachings. She was worried and begged Teacher to let her understand the characters. Over the next few nights she dreamed that the characters in Zhuan Falun appeared in front of her, looking golden and shiny. Soon she could recognize them in the book and eventually finished reading it.

After Miao arranged for other practitioners to study the teachings in her home, the police came to harass her on a regular basis. Once when they confiscated her Falun Gong literature, she asked them, “My husband is dead and I have no income. Would you pay my medical bills if I got sick? Why don't you let me practice Falun Gong, which keeps me healthy?” She then clarified the facts of the persecution to the police and the message eventually got through. The deputy police chief apologized before they left, saying, “We will never come and bother you again. Please stay healthy.”

The police never bothered them again.

Miao has two adopted daughters. She worked very hard to raise the older daughter from the time she was little and sent her to school. After the girl grew up, she deceived Miao into signing her house over to her. When Miao realized what her older daughter had done, she remembered what Teacher said in Zhuan Falun:

“When your self-interest is taken by others, you will not go to compete and fight for it like others. With different xinxing interference, you will suffer losses. In this difficult environment, you will temper your will and upgrade your xinxing. Under the influence of different ill thoughts from everyday people, you will be able to reach above and beyond.”

Miao let it go and remained diligent in her practice, like nothing had happened.

Her younger daughter was 18 when she adopted her. She was bony and underdeveloped, and hadn't had her period yet. Her family couldn't afford for her to see a doctor.

Miao took her home and told her about Falun Gong. A few years later she turned into a fine looking woman, got married, and had a baby girl.
