(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Siyuan was illegally arrested and taken to the Nangou Detention Center by officers from the Fushun City Domestic Security Division on April 25. This is the second time in a year she has been arrested for her belief.
Ms. Ma's brother-in-law Mr. Zhang Wenge was killed in the persecution on March 18, 2005. Unable to bear the loss, her sister Ms. Zhao Lijie's health steadily deteriorated.
Ms. Ma was arrested at her sister's home by officers from the Fushun City Domestic Security Division, the Xinbin County Domestic Security Division, and the Xinbin Town Police Station in the morning of April 12, 2014. The police ransacked both sisters' homes.
Traumatized, Ms. Ma's sister collapsed and passed away five days later.
Ms. Ma was taken to the Nangou Detention Center, where she was detained for eight months before she was diagnosed with a mammary tumor. Detention center officials released her on bail pending trial. However, before releasing her, they extorted approximately 70,000 yuan from her husband and forced her to promise to spy for the Domestic Security Division.
After she was released, her husband divorced her because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. Before her March 2015 trial at Xinbin County Court, Ms. Ma left home to avoid further persecution. She also published a solemn statement nullifying her promise to act as a spy.
