Events Across Asia Support Global Efforts to Bring Former Chinese Dictator to Justice
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners around the world have held various events over the last two weeks to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the peaceful resistance against the persecution in China. They also publicized the recent wave of criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party and the main culprit responsible for the persecution.
Events held in Taiwan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia and Indonesia were a part of this global effort to call for an end to the atrocities in China.
In Front of the Presidential Office in Taipei, Taiwan
About 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners gathered in front of the Presidential Office Building on Ketagalan Boulevard in Taipei on July 18, 2015. They did the Falun Gong exercises and commemorated the practitioners who were killed in the brutal persecution in China.
The Minghui website has received reports of more than 103,000 practitioners from inside and outside China filing lawsuits between early May and July 23 this year. Plaintiffs hold Jiang responsible for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years.
Rally in South Korea
Falun Gong practitioners and supporters in Korea held a rally at Seoul Plaza on July 20, 2015.
Dr. Wu Shilei, spokesperson for the Korea Falun Dafa Association, formally announced the kickoff of the signature collection drive in Korea supporting Chinese people filing criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.
Four renowned persons in Korea who spoke at the rally sign a criminal report form urging the Chinese authorities to bring Jiang Zemin to justice. “People in China and around the world have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin and the Party, indicating that the Chinese Communist Party is moving toward its demise,” said Professor Choi Woo-Won, Co-president of the Asian Philosophical Association, at the rally.
Seoul City Hall civil servants and other staff and many tourists signed a criminal report form citing Jiang's crimes.
According to Chinese law, a criminal report form signed and dated by any individual with knowledge of a crime constitutes a criminal complaint that can be submitted to the People's Supreme Procuratorate and Court.
“I've long known about the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. Freedom of belief and faith must be protected, no one is allowed to harm it,” said Yves Morissette, after signing a criminal report form against Jiang. She is an analyst at a bank in Montreal, Canada who was traveling in Korea at the time of the event.
Candlelight Vigil in Macau
Falun Gong practitioners in Macau held a candlelight vigil in the park opposite the Chinese Liaison Office at dusk on July 19, 2015. They mourned the practitioners who have died as a result of the brutal persecution over the past 16 years in China, and at the same time, they informed people about the global effort to bring Jiang Zemin to justice.
Falun Gong practitioners in Malaysia held a two-day event, on July 19 and 20, 2015 to raise awareness of the Chinese regime's 16-year brutal persecution and to support the more than 80,000 Chinese people who have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin.
“It has violated all human rights principles,” said Mr. Nadarajah, regarding the Chinese regime's crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. “It should be stopped in any circumstance. We will support the effort to end the persecution.”
