(Minghui.org) My daughter and wife downloaded WeChat, a free online messaging app, for me at the end of 2014. My wife said everyone in China was using it.

Using an alias, I logged onto the program, and soon my co-workers, classmates, friends, and relatives had added me to their friend lists.

WeChat has a column about traditional Chinese culture and I often read its articles. Sometimes I would add my comments about an article or transfer articles to my friends.

However, I realized that some of the WeChat content was very unhealthy.

One day I saw a message about something in England that was highlighted. I opened the article out of curiosity and saw it contained sexual information.

Also, from time to time I would read obscene novels on my cell phone. Even though I felt regret each time I read such stories, I continued to read them when I was in a meeting or feeling bored.

I realized that the demon of lust was controlling me. I studied the Fa to try to overcome this problem, but each time I could not completely sever the desire.

Eventually, the harmony in my family disappeared, and my daughter became wild and even rebelled against me and my wife.

My heart was troubled and I tried to suppress my interest in those bad things. But at the same time, I still sent out messages about Chinese culture even though I felt they didn't completely meet the Fa’s requirements.

Meanwhile, my one-hour sitting meditation began to be very painful after only 35 minutes.

Initially, I didn't think that the attachment to lust had anything to do with WeChat. I thought it might be caused by my willpower not being strong enough.

However, Minghui.org published some sharing articles that mentioned the damage caused by using WeChat. On March 19, I realized I had allowed the demon of lust to interfere with me after reading indecent things on WeChat.

I immediately uninstalled the app from my cell phone.

Within a week, the time I spent on my cell phone was dramatically reduced. I only used it for phone calls or to look up information. The demon of lust was then no longer able to interfere with me.

As cultivators, the simpler our lives, the better. I realized that WeChat can cause a lot of interference for practitioners. The primary function of the cell phone is for making phone calls, but it has become a huge attachment for people.

We should discard anything that interferes with our cultivation.

I hope those practitioners who are still using WeChat can learn from my experience and improve themselves as soon as possible by not using WeChat any more.
