(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 7 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 30 were illegally arrested.

1. [Tianjin] Mr. Gao Zhiyong Sentenced and Taken to Prison
Mr. Gao Zhiyong was taken to Binhai Prison after he was sentenced to a four-and-a-half-year prison term on September 29, 2016 by the Wuqing District Court.

2. [Baiyin City, Gansu Province] Mr. Jia Peifu Tried
Mr. Jia Peifu, 76, was tried in the Baiyin District Court on the afternoon of October 27, 2016. He was in poor health and not allowed to speak throughout the trial. His lawyer was also not allowed inside the courtroom. The trial ended in haste.
3. [Tianjin] Ms. Wang Shumin Tried
Ms. Wang Shumin from Taitou Village in Wuqing District was arrested by officers from the Gaocun Township Police Station on October 2, 2016. She is held in the Wuqing District Detention Center.
Ms. Wang's lawyer met with her on the afternoon of October 25, 2016, and learned that she was tried that morning without her family or lawyer being notified.
4. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Mr. Xia Mingliang Officially Placed Under Arrest
Mr. Xia Mingliang was arrested at home by officers from the Qinglin Police Station on October 21, 2016. His family only learned of his arrest after he called them several days later. The police did not deliver Mr. Xia's arrest warrant to his family until after they had talked to him.
5. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Guohua Taken to Brainwashing Center
Mr. Zhao Guohua, director of the Enrollment and Employment Division at Daqing Medical Junior College, was arrested and taken to the Qieryi Brainwashing Center on October 31, 2016.

6. [Hunchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Jian Detained
Mr. Wang Jian, 68, was arrested at home by officers from the Hunchun City Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of October 28, 2016. His home was ransacked and all of his Falun Gong books were confiscated. He was taken to the Hunchun City Detention Center and held for 15 days.
7. [Xintai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Guo Yizhong Arrested
Mr. Guo Yizhong, 70, was arrested by the local police on October 26, 2016.

8. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yan Arrested
Ms. Wang Yan was arrested when she was shopping on October 24, 2016.
9. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Li Fengzhen from Lalatun Village, Liucheng Town was arrested at home by officers from the Liucheng Police Station on the afternoon of October 27, 2016.
Ms. Gao Yanshang from Nanlingao Village was arrested on October 23, 2016.
It has been two months since Mr. Lai Guoping from Batuying Township, Beipiao City was arrested for suing Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese communist regime who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.
10. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Ji Xiaodong on Hunger Strike
Mr. Ji Xiaodong has been held in Chifeng Prison. He became infected with syphilis after being forced to wear a prison uniform worn by a prisoner infected with the disease. He then filed a complaint against the prison, but the guards withheld it.
He went on a hunger strike on October 12, 2016, to protest the persecution and is now very weak.
11. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Quanwu Remains in Prison, Family Visits Denied
Mr. Liu Quanwu, in his 70s from Meihekou City is held in Gongzhuling Prison. His children went to visit him on October 19, 2016, but was denied by the prison officials because he refuses to be "transformed".
12. [Yichun, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Tan Fengjiang Tried
Mr. Tan Fengjiang was arrested after someone reported him to the authorities in September 2016. He was then tried on October 27, 2016, for refusing to renounce his faith.
He is being held at the Youhao District Detention Center.
Mr. Tan previously served seven years in prison for his faith. The authorities even attempted to send him to a brainwashing center on the day of his release on April 20, 2013. His family and friends thwarted the attempt and managed to take him home.
He was arrested again a few months later after the police learned that he had hired lawyers to represent two Falun Gong practitioners still in detention. He was detained for 15 days.
13. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Six Practitioners Arrested
Six Kuming residents were arrested in Jinning County on September 24, 2016, while distributing Falun Gong materials.
The six practitioners are Ms. Zhu Yulian, 57; Ms. Li Shixia, 66; Ms. Zhai Yuexian, 80; Ms. Gao Qiongxian, 78; Ms. Lv Changying, 76; and Ms. Deng Guiying, 73.
They were body searched, had their pictures taken and their blood forcibly drawn.
Four of the women were later released after they each paid a 2,000 yuan fine. It is not known which two women remain in detention.
14. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Xiancheng Tortured in Prison
Mr. Zhou Xiancheng, 76, was arrested in Wuhan City, Hubei Province in March 2015. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term and taken to Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang City.
Mr. Zhou's health deteriorated as a result of torture and he was sent to a hospital for treatment.
His family went to visit him at the prison, but was told by the guards that they needed to get a letter from the local 610 Office first.
15. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Yingfen Sentenced
Ms. Zhao Yingfen was recently sentenced to four years in prison by the Paixiang County Court. She has appealed the sentencing.
16. [Beijing] Ms. Su Wei’s Case Sent to Procuratorate
Ms. Su Wei, 62, was arrested by officers from Fengtai Police Department on July 21, 2016. The No. 1 Branch of the Beijing Procuratorate did not approve the arrest until August 26, 2016. Her case has been submitted to the Fengtai Procuratorate.
Ms. Su is being held at Fengtai Detention Center.
17. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Jia Maosheng Still Detained
Mr. Jia Maosheng, 52, was arrested on August 17, 2016, and his home was ransacked. He has been held in the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center for over 70 days. His family has only been allowed to visit him recently.
Mr. Jia’s case was returned to the police department at the beginning of September 2016, for collecting so-called “evidence”. His case was submitted to the Changan District Procuratorate again on October 27, 2016.
18. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] 13 Practitioners Still Detained
Twenty-one practitioners were arrested on August 29, 2016. Eight have been released, while the others are still held at Songyuan Detention Center (also known as Shanyou Detention Center.)
Mr. Li Leping; his wife Ms. Zhao Lanyun; his daughter Ms. Li bei; along with Mr. Li’s in-laws and their son and daughter; a practitioner surnamed He; Ms. Wang Shibin; and Mr. Zhang were all arrested at Mr. Li's home.
The police arrested Ms. Hu and her daughter, Ms. Ning and her niece, Ms. Xu and a practitioner surnamed Wang at Ms. Hu's home.
Ms. Zhang Ruixia, Ms. Qin Shulan and Ms. Zhao Shufen were arrested on the same day. A couple from the oil refinery factory were also arrested.
Ms. Ni and her niece, Ms. Li Bei, Mr. Li Leping’s in-laws’ son and daughter, Ms. Qin Shulan, and Ms. Hu and her daughter have been released.
