Police Officers Refuse to Follow Order to Ransack Practitioner's Home

March 29, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Yang Zhuangkai was arrested at his home on February 25, 2016, for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Since 1999, Falun Gong practitioners across China have been subject to arbitrary arrest, detention, imprisonment, and even torture for refusing to renounce their faith. Over time, however, some law enforcement officers have chosen to stop participating in the persecution campaign they are ordered to carry out.

On March 4, a week after Mr. Yang's arrest, the captain of the Jiedong District Domestic Security Division led a group of officers to his home. His wife Yang Huishan, her 90-year-old mother, and her three-month-old grandson were present at the time. When the captain ordered the officers to search the home, Mrs. Yang protested and told the officers that they were breaking the law.

The captain called in another seven or eight officers from Yunlu Police Station as backup. When the officers saw that only a woman, her elderly mother, and a newborn were at home, they refused to comply.

The captain furiously pushed the officers upstairs. When he saw a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong on the wall, he tore it down himself, since his subordinates refused to.

On their way out an hour later, one officer mumbled to Yang Huishan, “Don't be upset. This can't go on for long!”
