7,207 in Yushu City Petition for Prosecution of Jiang Zemin

May 20, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Between May 2015 and the end of April 2016, a total of 7,207 people in Yushu City filed criminal complaints or signed statements against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime, for his role in starting the persecution of Falun Gong. These include 903 criminal complaints filed by Falun Gong practitioners who used their real names, and filed with the Chinese Supreme People's Court and the Chinese Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The other 6,304 petitioners include family members of Falun Gong practitioners and other citizens. Some used their real names and others used aliases, because the Chinese Communist Party has persecuted many filers.

According to partial data we have, 903 Falun Gong practitioners filed criminal complaints using their real names in June and July 2015. Since August 2015, an increasing number of local people have learned about this news, and the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution.

People have learned that Ms. Li Shuhua, along with dozens of other local Falun Gong practitioners, have been murdered, and dozens of local practitioners have been sentenced to jail. More than 300 local practitioners have been put in forced labor camps, and over 1,000 local practitioners have been subjected to illegal arrest and/or detention. After learning about these tragedies, more people have shown their support by signing the petitions and filing complaints.

Mr. Li Fumin, the family member of a Falun Gong practitioner, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin. He stated, “My daughter was beaten to death. My son-in-law was disabled, and his leg had to be amputated, due to torture. My wife was arrested, detained, sent to brainwashing centers, and subjected to labor camps more than ten times. She died in the end due to the persecution. I am suing Jiang Zemin for his crimes against humanity, the crimes of torture, abuse of power, and others, for a total of 18 criminal counts.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
