Shandong Woman Threatened with Job Termination and Divorce Because of Her Faith
(Minghui.org) A resident from Jinan City is facing pressure to renounce her faith or get fired from her job and divorced from her husband.
Ms. Yang Gui'e, an employee of Licheng District Tax Bureau, became a target after she filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that infringed upon her constitutional right to freedom of belief.
She was held at a brainwashing center for one week, during which time she was forced to read, listen to, and watch materials slanderous to Falun Gong. She managed to escape, only to be locked inside her own home by her husband, a police officer who feared implication because of her faith.
Ms. Yang refused to renounce her faith and is still home bound as her husband threatened to divorce her, and her workplace reiterated its warning of job loss.
610 Office Targets Ms. Yang
The local 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with eradicating Falun Gong, targeted Ms. Yang upon learning of her lawsuits against Jiang. They ordered her workplace to “work on her transformation [renouncing her faith].”
Ma Yueling, the tax bureau deputy director in charge of the HR department, jumped into action on April 8. He failed, though, in his attempts to get Ms. Yang to “admit her guilt for suing Jiang and practicing Falun Gong.”
Ten days later, the 610 Office dispatched Bi Siliang, director of the local brainwashing center, to talk to her at the tax bureau. Again, she affirmed that it was her legal right to seek justice against Jiang for the wrongs he did to her and numerous other practitioners.
Family Succumbs to Pressure and Intimidation
Ma deceived her into coming out of the tax bureau building on April 19 and drove her to the brainwashing center.
The 610 Office also held her husband, mother, sister, and brother there. Ma and Bi, along with their subordinates, bombarded the family with written, audio, and video materials slanderous to Falun Gong. Her loved ones succumbed to the relentless pressure and began to beg her to renounce Falun Gong.
She held firm to her faith but struggled to calm her anxious family.
Forced to Pay Room and Board
Ms. Yang's family was ordered to pay 10,000 yuan of expenses in room and board incurred by Ma, Bi, and other brainwashing center staff working on her case.
Home Bound after Brainwashing Center Escape
Ms. Yang managed to run away from the brainwashing center one week later. Her husband followed her home and locked her inside.
Ma and Bi showed up the very next day, reiterating their threat, “Give up Falun Gong or never come back to work!”
Her husband was afraid of losing his job and kept threatening to divorce her.

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
