(Minghui.org) Ms. Han Changgen, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was taken into police custody along with another practitioner on March 31, 2016 for distributing information about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Han was taken to the Tangshan No.1 Detention Center. On May 6, the Beilubei Procuratorate approved her arrest. Ms. Han was in feeble condition and could not walk without assistance.
Arrested and Detained, Home Ransacked
Police searched Ms. Han’s home after arresting her on March 31. When a family member came home, seven officers were searching the place. They left with a dozen Falun Gong books, a desktop computer, and her daughter’s laptop.
Police brought Ms. Han to the Ankang Hospital for a physical exam before sending her to the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center on April 1.
Practitioner Ms. Mu Shuqin and Ms. Han’s relative went to the police station on April 1 to see her. Officers not only refused to let them see Ms. Han but also detained the two visitors. Ms. Mu Shuqin was later sent to the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center; a month later, she was hospitalized.
Ms. Han was left alone at the Tangshan detention center for three weeks until an investigator finally saw her on April 20.
Ms. Han’s lawyer submitted a power of attorney document to the Dali Police Station on April 28. Li Hua, the officer in charge of Ms. Han’s case, told the lawyer and family that they were still investigating her case.
Survivor of Earthquake Benefits from Dafa
Ms. Han survived the Tangshan Earthquake in 1976, but she sustained severe injuries to her legs and feet, which left her handicapped. After she began to practice Falun Gong, however, Ms. Han regained her health.
