(Minghui.org) A Beijing man who was denied medical treatment for over a year in a forced labor camp had a four-inch open wound on his right heel; part of the bone and flesh had rotted away.
Mr. Fu Dongman was sent to the labor camp for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Police in Miyun County broke into Mr. Fu's home in October 2007. He was arrested and tortured for a month at Miyun Detention Center before he was sent to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp for two years. At the camp, he was made to do hard labor and regularly tortured, including relentless beatings and sitting on a “small stool.”
Mr. Fu cut his heel while trimming grass in 2008. His requests to see a doctor were repeatedly denied. One day after he worked in the rain in soggy shoes, his wound became infected and quickly festered. Officials took him to the prison clinic, but he was left untreated.
The wound worsened, and eventually he was taken to a hospital. The second time he was hospitalized, a doctor suggested immediate surgery, as the infection had penetrated his bone marrow. The labor camp officials would not consider it and took him back.
Guards ignored the doctor's orders to let Mr. Fu rest properly. His feet became severely swollen.
By March 2009, his bone had turned black, and the skin rotted away. He was hospitalized for two months, but it was too late. When doctors said not much could be done at that point, the labor camp authorities took Mr. Fu back to Tuanhe, where he continued to suffer constant, excruciating pain.
