(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 29 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Shouguang City Authorities Pressure Practitioner Teachers With the Appointment System
The Shouguang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office ordered the Shouguang City Board of Education to discriminate against Falun Gong practitioners by taking advantage of the appointment system in August 2016. Teachers who practice Falun Gong would be removed from their teaching posts. They would be either given odd jobs or be disqualified for employment.

2. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Tried
Ms. Yu Hongmei, Ms. Cui Wenlan, and Ms. Jiao Cuibo, from the Weicheng District, were arrested by officers from the Linqu County Domestic Security Division on August 30, 2016. They are being held in the Weifang Detention Center. The three practitioners will be put on trial by the Linqu County Court on the morning of September 12, 2016.
3. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Xiumei Detained
Ms. Zhang Xiumei, 68, was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong in Hougezhuang Village on the morning of September 6, 2016. The officers confiscated printed materials. Ms. Zhang is being held in the Jimo Detention Center.

Ms. Zhong Xiaoping from Luchuan County was arrested by officers from the Luchuan 610 Office and Domestic Security Division in late August. He was taken to the Luchuan Detention Center.
5. [Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Niu Yanzhong Imprisoned
Mr. Niu Yanzhong was arrested on the evening of April 11, 2014. He was sentenced to five years in prison in the fall of 2015. He is being incarcerated in the No. 7 Prison District of Hohhot City No. 2 Prison.
6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Yingxian and Mr. Zheng Fuguang Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Wang Yingxian from Xinglongpu Town in Xinmin City was sentenced to two years in prison. She is being held in the Benxi Prison. Mr. Zheng Fuguang from the Yuhong District was sentenced to three years in prison.
7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Shuangqiong Arrested
Ms. Chen Shuangqiong was arrested by a group of armed special police on September 8, 2016.
8. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Jiechun Detained
Ms. Li Jiechun from Beipiao City was arrested by Pan Hongkai, deputy head of the Beipiao City Domestic Security Division, and other officers on the morning of September 7, 2016. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in the Beipiao City Detention Center.

9. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Detained
Ms. Chen Xiaohui, Ms. Liu Liyun, Ms. Li Xintao, and Ms. Pi Donghua, from Nan County, were arrested when they posted Falun Gong informational materials on July 20, 2016. Ms. Li and Ms. Pi returned home after 15 days of detention. Ms. Chen and Ms. Liu were taken to the Yiyang City No. 2 Detention Center for continued custody.

10. [Dong'e County, Shandong Province] Ms. Shen Fengying and Ms. Zhang Fengqin Detained
Ms. Shen Fengying and Ms. Zhang Fengqin were arrested when they talked to personnel from the Yaozhai Town Police Station on September 7, 2016. Both practitioners were taken to the Liaocheng Detention Center. Ms. Shen was given a 7 day detention and Ms. Zhang was given a 10 day detention.
11. [Jiaohe City, Jilin Province] Family of Three Detained
Ms. Liu Yue, her father Mr. Liu Juntang, 75, and her mother Ms. Lu Bofeng, 71, were arrested on the morning of August 27, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.
The father was held in the Jiaohe City Detention Center. He was sentenced to seven years in prison in August 2016. He is being held in the Jilin Prison.
Ms. Liu and her mother are still being held in the Jilin City Detention Center.
12. [Beijing] Mr. Chen Zhaoyang and Mr. Li Shichun Missing
Mr. Chen Zhaoyang, from Yangfang Village, Changping District, was arrested by officers from the Yangfang Town Police Station in September 2002 for telling people about Falun Gong. Ms. Chen escaped on October 2, 2002. She went to Mr. Li Shichun's home that night. Both practitioners left home together. No one has heard anything about them or their whereabouts, since.
13. [Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Xie Gengyun and Ms. Chen Jiaoli Placed in Criminal Detention
Ms. Xie Gengyun and Ms. Chen Jiaoli from Caitang Town were arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Both practitioners were placed under administrative detention for 15 days. They were turned into criminal detention after that.
14. [Shanghai] Mr. Wang Xin Detained
Mr. Wang Xin, 42, from Boxiang Town, Ning'an City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Jinshan District Police Department while he was doing Falun Gong exercises outdoors on August 26, 2016. He is being held in the Jinshan Detention Center.
15. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Shi Fengxia and Ms. Tan Jinmei Detained
Ms. Shi Fengxia and Ms. Tan Jinmei were arrested on August 17, 2016, by officers from the Linjiang City Domestic Security Division. They are still detained.
16. [Xuanhua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Chen Yonghong Detained
Mr. Chen Yonghong went to the Kangbao County Police Department and asked them to return her car. Instead, she was arrested and taken to the Zhangjiakou Detention Center for 10 days of detention.

17. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Chen Xiuzhen Detained
Ms. Chen Xiuzhen, 69, was arrested on September 4, 2016. She is being held in the North Erqi Road Detention Center.
18. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Xiurong Arrested
Ms. Yang Xiurong, from Wutu Town, Changle County, was arrested for suing Jiang Zemin by officers from the Changle Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office during a “follow-up” visit on August 29, 2016. Her whereabouts are unknown.
19. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jun Detained
Ms. Wang Jun is being held in the Anshan City Women's Detention Center.
20. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Zhenghua Arrested
Mr. Wang Zhenghua was reported and arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong in mid-August 2016.
21. [Chongqing] Eight Practitioners Detained
Ms. Lan Tailian, Ms. Tang Yuanbi, Mr. Feng Changyu, Mr. Pu Yuansheng, Mr. He Tianchang, Mr. Tang Quan, Mr. Gong Yanzhao, and Mr. Wan Deyu, from the Hechuan District, were studying Falun Gong books at Ms. Tang Yuanbi's home on the afternoon of April 6, 2016.
Yang Chengli and a group of officers from the Hechuan District State Security Division broke into Ms. Tang's home and arrested them. The eight practitioners were taken to the Diaoyucheng Police Station. They were later taken to the Hechuan Detention Center.
