(Minghui.org) A woman in Dezhou City, Shandong Province was arrested on October 5, 2016 for distributing information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

This was the sixth time Ms. Liu Shuqing had been arrested for her faith. She was scheduled to be tried on January 19, 2017, but details regarding her trial remain to be investigated. She is being held in the Dezhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Liu Shuqing

Ms. Liu, who is originally from Jing County, Hebei Province, is not the only one in her extended family who has been persecuted for practicing her belief and disseminating information about Falun Gong. Her elder brother, Mr. Liu Qiusheng, was beaten to death within 14 days of his arrest during the 2002 Chinese New Year.

Her mother, her eldest sister's husband, and her second eldest sister have all passed away as a result of the persecution.

Ms. Liu and her surviving family members filed criminal complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin in 2015 for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in her family’s ordeals. Their complaints documented how the family benefited from practicing Falun Gong and how they were persecuted for their faith.

Below is an excerpt from their complaints.

Seven in One Family Benefit from Practicing Falun Gong

Conflicts with My Parents-in-Law Disappear

I was born in Sunzhennan Village, Liangji Township, Hebei Province. My father-in-law asked my husband and me to pay off his debts, which he owed before we got married. At the time, we were living in poverty. I was livid and often complained about and quarreled with my mother-in-law.

In 1997, seven people on my mother’s side of the family, including me, started practicing Falun Gong. I behaved according to the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I got over my conflicts with mother-in-law and took good care of my parents-in-law. They witnessed the goodness of Falun Gong.

Thanks to Falun Gong, my rheumatoid arthritis, swollen joints, stomachaches, and insomnia all disappeared.

Resolving Conflicts in Our Village

When it was for everyone to bring in a portion of their grain harvest to the government in 1998, our village leaders had conflicts. The village Communist Party Secretary repeatedly called for people to bring in what they owed, but no one was will to do it except us.

We Falun Gong practitioners took the lead and brought in our grain to the government. Other villagers saw what we did and followed suit.

Repairing a Muddy Road

A road in the north of our village was very muddy and almost destroyed by heavy rains. It was almost time to harvest our crops.

We Falun Gong practitioners repaired the road. One drove a tractor, others pushed wheelbarrows, and some used shovels. It was a lot of work, but we finally completed the repairs.

This is only one of the good deeds for which the practitioners in our village were responsible.

What I Endured As a Result of the Persecution

The Chinese Communist Party, however, couldn’t tolerate Falun Gong and started the persecution on July 20, 1999, beginning with a propaganda campaign.

When I went to Beijing to tell the government the facts about Falun Gong, I was taken back and detained in a local forced labor camp and township police station many times. They extorted 12,000 yuan from me.

In December 1999, I was arrested and detained in Jing County Detention Center for one month for going to Beijing and appealing to the central government.

My husband came to pick me up when I was released. The police told my husband that they would not let me go unless I promised to give up practicing Falun Gong.

My husband ordered me to promise, but I refused. He gave me such a terrible beating that my eyes were swollen shut and there were bumps on my head. The police looked on and seemed pleased that I was suffering.

At the end of 2000, I went to Beijing again to tell the government the facts about Falun Gong. I was arrested and taken to a police station in Beijing. The officers used electric batons to shock me. I went into spasms, and it felt as if my heart would leap out of my chest.

I was then taken to a local detention center in Jing County, Hebei Province. They extorted 4,000 yuan from me.

My Eldest Brother Beaten to Death in 14 Days

As our whole family was preparing for the 2002 Chinese New Year, Cuimiao Township police officers broke into our home, grabbed my eldest brother by his hair, and slapped his face.

Two weeks later, he was beaten to death at the age of only 43.

Three Other Family Members Die As a Result of the Persecution

My mother, my eldest sister's husband, and my second eldest sister have also passed away.

My eldest sister was detained in a forced labor camp for a year and a half and tortured. Her husband was depressed every day. One day, while she was repairing someone's roof, she fell over and died. She was only 41 at the time.

My second eldest sister was also a practitioner. Her health problems disappeared after she started to practice Falun Gong, but she was afraid and gave up the practice after the Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong. Her old ailments recurred, and she died in pain in October 2014.

My younger brother and his wife went to Beijing several times, trying to tell the government the truth about Falun Gong. Both of them were detained in a forced labor camp for a year and a half.

My eldest brother and his wife were doing business in Beijing. When they appealed to the central government and spoke up for Falun Gong, my brother-in-law was detained in a forced labor camp for a year and a half.

Local police officers from Cuimiao Township, Fucheng County, Hebei Province, went to Beijing to harass my brother so many times that he had to give up his business. He returned to Fucheng County but still did not dare to live at home to avoid arrest.
