18 Harbin Residents Arrested in Police Sweep

(Minghui.org) A recent police sweep netted 18 locals in the Acheng District of Harbin. These residents were targeted because they refuse to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

According to insiders, Harbin Police Department and Acheng District Police Department met together on the morning of February 25 to discuss how to arrest local Falun Gong practitioners. More than 100 agents from different police stations were then dispatched to raid homes during the rest of the day.

The arresting officers wore plainclothes and showed no search warrants when they broke into private homes and confiscated practitioners’ personal belongings, including their Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and other valuables.

The arrested practitioners include: Mr. Zhang Ge, 54; Mr. Shi Tiejin and his wife Ms. Meng Fanling, 44; Ms. Zhang Chunyu, 63; Mr. Li Peng, 63, and his daughter Ms. Li Xiaowei, 33; Mr. Zhang Guangli; Ms. Pan Fang; Ms. Wang Zongrong, 50; Ms. Wang Yanqiu, 59; Mr. Lv Haiyan, 63; Ms. Cao Yan, 53; Ms. Hu Xiuqin; and five other practitioners whose names remain to be investigated.

Mr. Zhang Ge’s and Mr. Shi Tiejin’s cars were also impounded.
