(Minghui.org) Although I have practiced Falun Dafa for 18 years, I was surprised to find recently that I was not clear on the basic principles of the exercises. To refresh my knowledge on the mechanics and the principles behind each exercise and the movements, I reread The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection.

I always thought of this book as more for beginners who are learning the exercises for the first time. I did not consider it important to study regularly. Besides the couple times I read it when I first started out, I had not touched it in a long time.

When I reread this book, however, I gained a whole new understanding of the principles and was reminded of what doing the exercises is truly about. I can now consciously repress the various thoughts that pop up in my head when I do the exercises. Before, I was merely going through the motions, but rarely had a calm and clear mind.

Without a solid understanding of the profound principles, it is hard for a cultivator to get the full effect of the exercises, even if we do it every day. Having reread this book really helped me improve myself. Maybe it's time for all of us to reread this book and refresh our knowledge on the principles of the exercises.
