(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 25 were illegally arrested.

1. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zhou Yi Tried
Mr. Zhou Yi, 80, was tried on March 1, 2017, by the Gulou District Court.
He is a retired associate professor from the Naval Aeronautical Engineering Institute, with a rank of senior colonel at the People's Liberation Army division-level.
Mr. Zhou, Ms. Gu Sumei, 78, and Ms. Du Huiying, in her seventies, were arrested by over 20 officers from the Gulou District Police Department, Domestic Security Division, and Huaqiaolu Police Station on the afternoon of August 17, 2016, when they were studying the Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Du's home.
2. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Xie Wenxian and Mr. Li Ming Arrested
Mr. Xie Wenxian, from Dechao Village in Chenshi Town, and Mr. Li Ming, from Boshu Village, were arrested and taken to the Shenzhou City Detention Center on March 9, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong in Beixi Township.
Officers from Chenshi Police Station and the Shenzhou Police Department ransacked their homes. They confiscated Falun Gong books and DVDs from Mr. Xie's home and Falun Gong books from Mr. Li's home.

3. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Song Zhaoheng, 75, Ms. Liu Yanrong, 70, and Ms. Zhang Limei, 68, were reported to the authorities on the afternoon of March 10, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
They were arrested by officers from Zhengyang Police Station, and interrogated until 9:00 p.m. at the station.
Ms. Song was released, while the other two practitioners were taken to a detention center for five days.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Feng and His Family Arrested
Mr. Feng, his wife, son, and elder sister were arrested at home by over 20 officers from the Kuancheng Police Station on the evening of March 7, 2017.
Mr. Feng is being held in the Changchun No. 1 Detention Center. His wife and sister are being held in the No. 2 Detention Center. Their son was severely beaten and is detained at the Public Security Hospital.
5. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Kong Qingmei's Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Kong Qingmei from the Xuanwu District was arrested in June 2014 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to a mental hospital, but her exact whereabouts are unknown.
She has previously been sent to a forced labor camp for three years, taken to the Zutangshan Mental Hospital four times, and has lost her freedom for a total of more than six years.
6. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Shaoqin's Home Ransacked
Wei Fuming and over a dozen people from the Jiufeng Town Government broke into Ms. Yang Shaoqin's home, and ransacked it while video recording the entire process, on January 5, 2017. They confiscated 85 Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
7. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Lizhen and Ms. Liu Fengling Taken to Prison
Ms. Li Lizhen from Tieling City worked at odd jobs in Fushun City and stayed with her younger sister in the Qiange New Residential Community. She was arrested at her sister's home on the evening of May 6, 2016.
She was tried by the Xinfu District Court on the morning of July 18, 2016, and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
Ms. Liu Fengling was arrested on July 22, 2016, and sentenced to a five and a half-year prison term by the Xinfu District Court in late 2016.
Both practitioners were taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison in February 2017.
8. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Yuan Yumei Detained
Ms. Yuan Yumei was arrested at her home by officers from the Yinghedong Police Station, Yingdong District, on March 2, 2017. She is being held in the Fuyang Detention Center.

9. [Beijing] Four Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Zhao Ping from the Tongzhou District, Ms. Li Suyun from the Heyi Residential Community of Fengtai District, Xiaomi from Guizhou Province, and Xiaohua from the Changping District were arrested at the Huairou Toll Station on the morning of March 8, 2017, when they were driving to Hebei Province to visit other practitioners.
Their identification cards and Falun Gong amulets were confiscated, and they were taken to the Huairou Police Station.
Officers from Heyi Police Station and Huairou Police Station took Ms. Li Suyun home the following afternoon and ransacked the place. They confiscated a framed Lunyu written by the founder of Falun Gong and a calendar. They demanded that Mr. Li sign some documents, which she refused. They then took her back to Huairou Police Station.
10. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Niu Xiqing Detained
Mr. Niu Xiqing from Shagou Town, Yishui County, was reported to the authorities for posting Falun Gong materials on March 9, 2017. He was arrested and taken to Yishui Detention Center.
11. [Beijing] Mr. Jin Yi Detained
Mr. Jin Yi from the Tongzhou District was arrested by officers from Yuqiao Police Station in Tongzhou, on the afternoon of March 9, 2017.
Two officers ransacked his home and confiscated a computer. They informed his family that he had been placed under criminal detention for one week. He was taken to the Tongzhou Detention Center.

Ms. Chi Lianzhu was taken to a detention center.
13. [Feicheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dai Guiying and Ms. Jia Chengzhen Arrested
Ms. Dai Guiying and Ms. Jia Chengzhen, from Gaoyu Village, Shiheng Town, were arrested on the afternoon of March 10, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked.

Ms. Jiang Rongxin was transferred to Shenzhen City No. 1 Detention Center.

15. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yu Hongzhou Arrested
Mr. Yu Hongzhou from the Yantai Development Zone and a colleague were stopped by the police on their way home from work on March 10, 2017.
The police found Falun Gong materials in the car and arrested them. The officers ransacked Mr. Yu's home and confiscated two copies of Zhuan Falun.

16. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhao Yunbin's Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Zhao Yunbin from Tanpeng Town, Linquan County, was arrested on a bus by local police and personnel from the town's government on the morning of February 20, 2017. Her whereabouts are unknown.
17. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yan Shuzhen Taken to Prison
Ms. Yan Shuzhen was taken to Liaoning Women's Prison on February 28, 2017.
18. [Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Zhang Liangfeng Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Zhang Liangfeng, a doctor with the Xinzhou Chinese Medicine Hospital, was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong.
He was taken to Jinzhong Prison in Qi County in late February 2017.
19. [Tongling, Anhui Province] Mr. Han Zhong Arrested
Mr. Han Zhong was arrested on January 16, 2017, for spreading information about Falun Gong. His family hired a lawyer in March, who demanded that the local Procuratorate release him.
He has been persecuted for his belief many times. He was beaten until he lost sight in his right eye in late 2006, while detained in a labor camp. He was sentenced to six years in prison three years later.
20. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Fubin Tortured
Mr. Liu Fubin has been put in solitary confinement in Tailai Prison. His family has been denied phone calls and visitation rights.
He is serving ten years in prison, which began on July 13, 2009, for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong.
Prison guards shackled his feet to prevent him from doing the Falun Gong exercises. He held firm in his belief and was recently taken to a solitary confinement cell.
The guards denied that he had been mistreated when confronted by Mr. Liu's wife. She asked to talk to her husband on the phone, but was told that he was unavailable. She asked to see him on a scheduled visitation date, but the guards claimed that they were experiencing technical difficulties with the phones used for visits.
21. [Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wan Shuqing Tortured in Prison
Mr. Wan Shuqing is emaciated due to being abused in Tailai Prison.
Mr. Wan was arrested on July 28, 2015, for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. The local detention center guards abused him, resulting in the relapse of his heart and gallbladder problems.
The torture continued after he was transferred to a prison in August 2016. He was twice handcuffed and suspended in the air. When his family protested against the brutality, a section chief told them that's how they treat Falun Gong practitioners.
22. [Beijing] Ms. Tu Xiaomin and Six Other Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Tu Xiaomin and six other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on March 8, 2017, when passing through an inspection station in Huairou County, Beijing. They were taken to different detention centers in Beijing, and their current status remains to be investigated.
Ms. Tu, originally from Daozhen County, Guizhou Province, has been arrested numerous times, simply for refusing to renounce her belief in Falun Gong. She was twice sentenced to forced labor, totaling five years.
23. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hu Yanxia Transferred to Prison
Ms. Hu Yanxia was sentenced to a three-year prison term in July 2016. She appealed to the Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court. The court upheld the original sentencing without a trial.
She was released on bail for medical treatment. Qiaoxi District Court called Ms. Hu to go to the court on February 25, 2017, to sign some documents. She was arrested on arrival and taken to Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. A physical examination showed that she had extremely high blood pressure.
She was transferred to Hebei Provincial Women’s Prison that afternoon. Her family tried to see her on March 9, but visitation rights were refused.
