Lessons Learned from Talking to People about Dafa

May 07, 2017 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) A lot of hard work goes into preparing practitioners to participate in the phone calling team that makes calls to let people know about Falun Dafa and the persecution, and many lessons have been learned along the way in my cultivation.

Sending Righteous Thoughts to Eliminate Attachments

I called a young man on my first day with the team. We talked for almost an hour, and he asked me a lot of questions. I kept asking him if he would like to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after explaining how badly the Party has treated us, but he did not want to quit.

I finally ran out of patience and hung up. I know that I shouldn't have, but I didn't realize that this incident was a test for me to get rid of my attachment.

I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate it, then called him back. Without much ado, the young man gave me a pseudonym to use to quit the Party.

Maintaining a Pure and Compassionate Heart

Apart from the importance of sending forth righteous thoughts to clear away any bad substances that may be present in our dimension, I also learned that it is not how well one talks on the surface that convinces people to quit the CCP, but that it depends on how pure and compassionate one's heart is.

When someone hung up the phone once, I called the person back several times. I spoke calmly and with only the intention of saving the person in my heart. In the end this person agreed to quit the Party.

Different Approaches

There are different ways to let people know about the CCP. Sometimes I need to go into more detail and other times less so.

When I spoke to one man, I felt that I should talk more about quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. I said, “When you quit the Party, there is no official procedure to follow, but you might wonder why you should quit.”

I told him about the harm the CCP has done to the Chinese people, the millions murdered, the loss of the country's culture, and the corruption that permeates society.

I told him that many Chinese, including high ranking Party officials, who travel abroad quit the Party while they are there. Some use their real names, while others use a pseudonym. Then I talked about Falun Dafa and the persecution.

He did not say anything, nor did he hang up. I went into greater detail about the torture and murder of innocent Falun Dafa practitioners.

I told him that he had taken an oath to devote his life to communism. Which means that, when the communist regime falls, those who are still members of the Party will have to bear responsibility for its sins. Shortly after I hung up, he called me back and quit the CCP.

There are so many different approaches one can use when talking to people about the Party, Dafa, and the persecution. Each of them can be effective.

Rescuing a Fellow Practitioner

I received an urgent notice to send forth righteous thoughts in January 2006, because a fellow practitioner had been arrested. The coordinator of our area asked me to talk to the police, because the deputy director with the same family name as me was on duty.

He was our district civic police officer in 2002 and was responsible for my arrest in March of that year and for being sentenced to four years in prison.

Master said,

“Wherever there's a problem, that is where you need to clarify the truth and save people. Don't take a detour when you run into difficulties. When you see something that does us harm, or when you see something blocking our validating the Fa, don't take a detour -- you should face it, and clarify the truth and save those beings.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference II)

I was worried about ringing the police, but after studying Master's Fa, it opened my heart.

I called the deputy director, and when he heard my name, he was surprised to hear from me. When I told him why I had rung him, he immediately tried to shirk responsibility for the practitioner's arrest.

I reminded him that he was on duty at the time and had to take responsibility for his actions. He claimed that he could not do anything about the arrest, as the city officials make the decisions.

From what I heard later, the police took the practitioner to a detention center and claimed that she was very sick. The detention center then refused to accept responsibility for her, and she was taken home at 10 p.m.

When Dafa practitioners cooperate well with each other, it is Master who has the final say.
