Recent Falun Gong Events in Europe
(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Europe participated in five events in Belgium, Switzerland, England, Denmark, and Sweden during the past two weeks. In these events, practitioners introduced this ancient Chinese cultivation practice to the public, informed the public about the persecution of the practice in China, and asked for help to end it. Their efforts were strongly supported by people from all walks of life.
The European Tian Guo Marching Band, consisting of practitioners from eight countries, performed at the May Festival in Genk on May 1. Along with the band, a lotus flowered-decorated float and beautiful traditional Chinese dances were warmly welcomed by the spectators.
Practitioners from Lucerne set up a booth at the famous tourist spot, Lion Monument, on May 1. They told tourists about the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China, and collecting signatures on a petition that condemns the crime.
Practitioners prepared flyers in a dozen of languages, and a special booklet for Chinese tourists, which describes Falun Gong's spread in the world, what Falun Gong really is, and the brutality of the persecution. Many Chinese tourists and the tour guides were happy to see Falun Gong here. They accepted the materials, and took photos of practitioners' booth.
Waves of people stopped by to sign the petition, and expressed their support for Falun Gong's peaceful resistance.
In Bristol, practitioners held a similar event at the local business district on April 29.
People were shocked by the facts of the state-sanctioned organ harvesting. Many of them said they had not heard of it, and thanked practitioners for bringing the information to the public.
Alexa, a local girl, said it was important to raise public awareness of the crime, because people are busy in the daily affairs, and may ignore such a serious issue and not to take action.
Alexa believes that collecting signatures is a good way to inform people, and urge the government to help end the persecution.
A similar event, called “Falun Dafa Information Day,” was held in Farsta, Sweden on April 27-28.
Just like the kind people from other places in the world, the residents in Farsta also expressed strong support for the practitioners’ efforts.
A local gentleman said he knows very well about the evil nature of the Communist Party, but he didn't expect to hear about forced organ harvesting.
“I like China, and I've learned some Chinese,” he said, “but I will never go there as long as the Communist Party still rules.”
A high school student who is in charge of a student association left his email address with practitioners. He could not believe such a brutal thing still exists nowadays.
He said, “Young people should do something. This is our responsibility. I will tell everybody at school what I've learned today. We must do something to stop it.”
Many residents from Aalborg learned about Falun Gong at a local health expo in March. They left contact information with practitioners at the expo, and wanted to join the free Falun Gong workshop in the future, and learn the exercises, which practitioners informed them about.
On April 23, the practitioners held a whole-day workshop at the downtown community center.
