(Minghui.org) The Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court upheld the five-year prison term of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Chunran on April 15, 2017.

Ms. Wu, nearly 70, was sentenced to five years for distributing flyers to expose the persecution of her spiritual belief on December 15, 2016. She appealed to the intermediate court on December 24, 2016, which eventually upheld the original sentence.

Ms. Wu was handing out flyers on June 22, 2016, when she was arrested. The police ransacked her home and destroyed photos of the founder of Falun Gong. They confiscated her computer, a printer, several Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. She was tried on December 9, 2016, after being held for more than five months in the No.2 Detention Center in Shijiazhuang.

Ms. Wu's arrest came only about a year after she was released after serving a seven-year term for not giving up Falun Gong. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, she has been repeatedly arrested and persecuted. Her husband passed away in 2001 due to the stress of the persecution.

Her two daughters are working hard to rescue her.

Her younger daughter said, “The nightmare continues. After seven years apart and only a short year together, my mom was taken away from me again. During her seven years in prison, my mom's black hair all turned gray.

“My mom is nearly 70. If she is detained again, it's not hard to imagine how bad things might get for her. This was such a shock to my sister that she was confined to her bed for several days. We consider it a matter of life and death.”
