Over 500 Villagers Sign Petition Calling for Mr. Liu Ziping's Release

July 01, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Ziping from Huachuan County in Heilongjiang Province was illegally arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Huanan County. More than 500 villagers have signed a petition calling for his release.

Mr. Liu was arrested by officers from the Mengjiagang Police Station in Dongsheng Village and held in the Huanan County Detention Center since April 2017.

His family and friends went to the Huanan County Police Department, the Mengjiagang Police Station, and Dongsheng Village to try to get him released, but to no avail.

They then went to clarify the truth to local villagers and those in the neighboring villages. They collected 524 signatures and thumbprints on the petition calling for Mr. Liu's immediate release.

“Falun Gong practitioners are all good people”

We arrived at the home of a young couple and began to tell them the purpose of our visit. But before we could finish, the husband said, “Are you asking me to sign the petition? Yes, I will. I know that all Falun Gong practitioners are good people. The person who reported Mr. Liu [to the authorities] is horrible.”

“Evil will not triumph over what is right”

We came to a house with a big yard and a man working on a truck. Another truck pulled in as we walked over to the homeowner. After we told him why we were there, he said, “They are still doing such rotten things at this stage of the game? I will sign.”

He handed the petition to the other villager who had just arrived and said, “Why don't you sign it, too? I will take responsibility if the authorities blame you. If they do come, I will teach them a lesson. Evil will not triumph over what is right.”

“Everyone should help”

We went to a grocery store in Xinfa Village. There were many people inside chatting, playing mahjong, or shopping. After we explained the purpose our visit, one of the customers said, “Mr. Liu is such a nice person. We should all help.” Everyone then signed the petition.
