Mayor of Seattle Issues Proclamation for Falun Dafa Day
(Minghui.org) Mayor Edward Murray of City of Seattle, Washington proclaimed July 20, 2017 as Falun Dafa Day in the city. The proclamation expressed support to Falun Gong and commends practitioners’efforts against the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 18-year-long persecution.
The proclamation states, “Whereas, numerous practitioners of Falun Gong are persecuted in China for their belief since 1999 by the Chinese Communist Party; and
“Whereas, Falun Gong practitioners' courage to stand up for their values while facing severe persecution has shown the world that value of life and the preciousness of human dignity; and
“Whereas, The U.S. House of Representatives passed H. Res.343 unanimously on June 13, 2016 to condemn the systemic persecution of Falun Gong; and
“Whereas, July 20, 2017 marks the 18th anniversary of the ongoing persecution of Falun Dafa; and
“Therefore, I, Edward B. Murry, Mayor of Seattle, Do hereby proclaim July 20th to be Falun Dafa Day.”
