(Minghui.org) My father looks like someone in his fifties, but he is actually 64 years old and is very healthy. My father is not a practitioner of Falun Gong, (also known as Falun Dafa), but he is a good man and he witnessed how much Master gave to our family for the past 21 years. Even though he did not practice Falun Dafa, my father was always very kind no matter how horrible the environment was.
Seeing the True Face of the Communist Party
My parents were born after the Communist Party gained control of the country. They went through various political movements that were launched by the Communist Party.
Through them all my father always listened to his conscience. When the Communist Party told people to criticize scholars, teachers, and intellectuals, he never did. When the Communist Party told people to damage the name of Confucius and to burn books, he secretly hid the books.
Since I was young, he has told me that his uncle served the Communist Party but ended up with a broken neck. “Wasn't the Communist Party evil?” he would ask me.
Under my father's influence, I grew up as a morally upright person.
My mother had always suffered from all kinds of diseases. She had a heart ailment and many gynecological problems. In 1989 she underwent major heart surgery in Beijing and, to pay for the surgery, the family went into heavy debt. After the surgery, she was very weak. She had to take medication all the time and could not do any work. I was raised by my grandmother.
These difficult years lasted until 1996, when my mother began to practice Falun Gong. After that, she stopped taking medicine. My father was angry and anxious about this, but my mother knew what she was doing. She took no medication, but she got better and better. A few months later her illnesses all disappeared.
My father could hardly believe it. He was amazed when he accompanied my mother for medical check-ups. Every check-up showed that my mother was totally healthy.
Although my grandmother couldn't read, after she witnessed her daughter's miraculous cure, she also started to practice Falun Dafa. I started to practice Falun Dafa in 1998. The three of us practiced Falun Dafa, and we were happy.
Protecting His Wife and Daughter
After July 20, 1999 when the Communist Party launched the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, many practitioners were never seen again. Our Fa study and exercise group broke up.
My grandmother, Mom, and I started a new Fa study group, which has continued till today. Because of us, my father has gotten to know more about Falun Dafa. He also had a chance to know many other practitioners. From what they said and what they did, my father knew that Falun Dafa practitioners are the most honest and kind people.
In 2002, many practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. The Communist Party was very afraid of this and used all means to prevent practitioners from going to Beijing. Almost all of the local practitioners were arrested. Many were arrested even before they arrived at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
One elderly practitioner from our Fa study group returned with righteous thoughts. When she called to tell us that she was safely back, I saw my father's eyes fill with tears. Mom and I cried too, out of happiness.
Mom planned to go to Beijing to appeal and this time my father reacted very differently. He tried to stop her. He was angry, anxious, frightened because he knew how evil the Communist Party was.
However, my mom still made the trip and came back safely. She told us how she was arrested in Tiananmen Square, how she was put into a small cage, how she resisted the illegal arrest, and how she escaped detention.
My father listened with heartfelt attention and later told others my mom's story. He was proud of her and admired Falun Dafa practitioners.
On November 23 that year, I also went to Beijing to appeal. I arrived at Tiananmen Square the next day and returned on November 25. My father prepared delicious food to welcome me back.
Defending Falun Dafa
My father likes to read truth clarifying materials. He has also read Zhuan Falun and admires Master.
Even though he is not a practitioner, he clarifies the truth to others on the street and exposes the persecution to people. Neighbors called him “Falun Gong.” He does this when he travels on the train. He is surrounded by many people who listen to him intently. When he traveled to Tiananmen Square, he exposed the self-immolation hoax to his colleagues. At family gatherings, he helps to persuade relatives and friends to quit the Communist Party and its related organizations.
He takes in practitioners who are forced to be homeless and donated 10,000 yuan to set up a material production center. When I was at an age to begin dating, my family tells me that the boy must be someone who agrees with “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
Facing the Evil to Rescue His Family
In 2008 my mother was arrested and sent to detention for distributing truth-clarifying materials. My father and I worked hard to rescue her. I exposed the illegal arrest through the Internet and gathered practitioners together to send forth righteous thoughts.
As we sent forth righteous thoughts outside the police department, my father went in to request my mom’s unconditional release. The police tried to send my mom to a forced labor camp, but failed. They finally had to release her.
When she returned home, practitioners said that my family was the best to work with, especially my non-practitioner father.
Quitting the Communist Party
It was very easy for my mom to quit the CCP because she is a Falun Gong practitioner, but it was not so easy for my father.
He was a mid-level official and that position required CCP membership. If he quit the CCP, he had to quit his job.
He still decided to quit the CCP before he retired. He came up with an unusual idea. He went to the local CCP leader and intentionally started a dispute with him before handing in his application to quit the CCP. That person was so irritated that he immediately approved the application.
My father was a little bit unhappy when he saw the official notification because it stated that he was fired from the CCP. “Actually, I fired the CCP, not the other way around,” he said.
Other practitioners say that my father really is a practitioner even though he doesn't say it publicly. The three of us have persuaded him to become a real practitioner, but he said, “Once I start, I will exceed all of you.” He realizes that the real reason he doesn’t is because he does not want to give up so many attachments.
Master said in Zhuan Falun,
“And while we’ve been spreading the Law, we’ve spelled out how to act like a good human being, and I hope that after you finish this class, at the very least you can be a good person even if you can’t be somebody who cultivates by the Great Law, and that will benefit our world. Actually, now you know how to be a good person, and after this class you can be a good person.”
I hope that more people will come to know how wonderful Falun Dafa is and how the CCP persecutes Falun Dafa practitioners. I hope people will make a wise choice and have a happy family.
