(Minghui.org) On September 8, 2017, Columbia University held its annual Student Activities Fair. The school’s Falun Dafa Club was among the hundreds of student groups present, with a booth in the center of Low Plaza.

Practitioners at the booth passed out Falun Dafa materials in English and Chinese and introduced the practice to university students and passersby.

Dozens of people signed up for the Falun Dafa Club mailing list. Many learned about Falun Dafa for the first time and expressed interest in learning the meditation practice and exercises.

Several Chinese students thanked the practitioners for giving them information about Falun Dafa that would have been censored by the communist regime in China.

Practitioners shared more information on the April 25, 1999 demonstration outside the Communist Party leadership compound in Beijing and the Tiananmen self-immolation hoax of 2001. Both incidents are commonly misrepresented by the Chinese state media to slander Falun Dafa.

“What I heard in China was biased,” a Chinese student told a practitioner.

A young Chinese woman who had studied in Beijing chatted with the practitioners and asked questions for over half an hour. She expressed interest in the history of Falun Dafa and why it is being persecuted by the Chinese regime. She said she had heard about Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa, when she was very young.

A Western student who had spent two years in southwestern China was interested in hearing more about Falun Dafa because he knew how badly it was persecuted by the Chinese regime.
