(Minghui.org) New Yorkers recently had several chances to learn about the ancient meditation system Falun Gong during street fairs, including the Broadway Village Fair on September 9, 2017, and the Forest Hills Queens Boulevard Fair and Bayside Bell Boulevard Fair on September 10.

Broadway Village Fair

Falun Gong practitioners participated in the Broadway Village Fair on September 9 to introduce the practice to fair visitors.

The Broadway Village Fair is adjacent to Union Square and New York University, and spans over six streets with about 150 vendors. Many pedestrians were impressed by the peaceful music from the Falun Gong booth, and accepted pamphlets containing information about the practice. Some people talked with practitioners to learn more about the self-improvement system.

One woman said that she felt strong energy from the practitioners, and said she would learn the exercises upon returning home. Many people agreed that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance would benefit society and they signed petitions calling for an end to the suppression in China.

With peaceful exercise music, the Falun Gong booth attracted many tourists at the Forest Hills Queens Boulevard Fair. They read the materials and talked with practitioners to learn more about Falun Gong.

One mother and daughter accepted pamphlets from practitioners, and asked about the Falun Gong practice. One practitioner explained that it is an ancient practice rooted in China, and it benefits both physical health and mind nature. The mother was concerned about the persecution in China and said she had heard about the forced organ harvesting. In the end, both of them signed petitions to help end the persecution.

The mother said, “This world needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” She then took information about local practice sites and said she would give a try.

Practitioners came to the Bayside Bell Boulevard Fair on September 10 to tell people about Falun Gong. Many South Korean immigrants live in the area, and many had heard about Falun Gong previously. Children liked the hand-made, paper lotus flower very much.

One couple said they had seen practitioners doing morning exercises in a park, but did not know much about Falun Gong. After one practitioner explained the practice to them, they were very thankful, and the husband said he would like to learn the exercises.
