(Minghui.org) On the morning of May 8, 2012 the president of the Institute of Electronic Information, Gao Wenxiang, told Ms. Yao Kai and her husband to go to the Jiamusi University 610 Office. Gao accompanied them there, but then left as soon as they arrived. Ms. Yao and her husband realized that something was not right, and upon entering the room found that the head of the university 610 Office, Lu Lianbo, officers from Xinhua Police Station and the university security office were waiting for them.

They told Ms. Yao that she had to go to a brainwashing center. After hearing this, Ms. Yao's husband grabbed his wife and left immediately. The officers and three other men chased after them, while Lu Lianbo phoned for others to come and help them. Ms. Yao's husband got into a scuffle with them near Hongxia Road, which brought on his heart problem. Five people eventually dragged Ms. Yao and her husband to a van, while she was shouting, “These officers are arresting innocent people” to those passing by.

The head of the university security department, Fu Guibin, tricked Ms. Yao's husband into getting out of the van, before they drive off with Ms. Yao still inside. When her husband asked where they were taking her, they said coldly, “You don't need to know this.”

Information available at present indicates that Ms. Yao has been taken to Yichun Brainwashing Center, and that a teacher from the university, Ding Xiaodi, is also detained there. Ms. Yao's family and friends are very concerned about her safety.

Yichun Brainwashing Center is disguised as a “Legal Education School,” but it is actually a private prison used specifically for holding Falun Gong practitioners. It has the reputation of having a 100% transformation rate, meaning that all practitioners that have been sent there have, through torturous means, renounced their belief and stopped practicing Falun Gong. Practitioners are forced to watch videos and read articles that slander Falun Gong. Guards first try to persuade practitioners to write a guarantee statement to stop practicing. When practitioners refuse to do this, they are tortured.

Repeatedly arrested over the past ten years

As Ms. Yao holds a prominent position at the university, when the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, the authorities ordered her to slander the practice in a brainwashing session and said that she must hand in all of her Dafa books. However, she steadfastly refused. In the early summer months of 2000, she was not allowed to teach anymore, and was forced to attend brainwashing sessions held by the propaganda department and security department. When she refused to write a guarantee statement to renounce her belief, she was criticized in the university newspaper.

On January 15, 2001, Ms. Yao went to appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing. She was arrested and returned to Jiamusi, and was held in the detention center. Her family was forced to pay over 20,000 yuan to have her released nineteen days later. She was arrested again on May 8 and was held in Jiamusi Detention Center again, where she went on a hunger strike. Her family was forced to pay over 8,000 yuan to get her released. Li Ji from the university's security department led a group of officers to break into her home on the morning of July 20, and confiscated her personal belongings. When they attempted to take her with them, she firmly resisted. That afternoon, the head of the 610 Office, Chen Wanyou, and a young police officer tricked her into opening her front door. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the Public Security Bureau. Her family paid another 3,000 yuan to get her released.

Officer Liu Jie from Xinhua Police Station, together with other officers, arrested Ms. Yao on August 27, 2001, and detained her at Jiamusi Public Security Bureau in the Xiangyang District. She was then sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. The police also extorted over 20,000 yuan from her. During her detention, she was subjected to various forms of torture, such as forced brainwashing, denied use of the toilet for long periods of time, forced feeding, forced labor, forced to sit on a small stool for over sixteen hours a day, had her arms handcuffed behind her back for long periods of time, and handcuffed to a bed for long periods of time.

When Ms. Yao was released from Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp in August 2003, officials from Jiamusi University tried to force her to write a guarantee statement to renounce her belief, but she refused. As a result, she was removed from her faculty position, her rank was lowered and she was put on probation for two years.

During a winter conference in 2008, officers from the university's security department, the secretary of the Institute of Electronic Information and Zhao Chensheng from the 610 Office ordered Ms. Yao to come to the office. They detained her there for two hours.
