(Minghui.org) I have been distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs over the past few years. People in China have gradually become more receptive of Falun Gong practitioners' truth-clarification materials. The Shen Yun DVDs are especially warmly received, as more people come to realize that Shen Yun represents the real Chinese culture.
People Are Willing to Pay for the Value of the Show
One summer day, I spoke to a young taxi driver waiting as he awaited his next customer, “Young man, I have an art performance DVD.” He said he didn't need it. I told him, “This one isn't the Chinese New Year Gala by the Chinese Central Television (CCTV). It's the authentic Chinese culture performed in top theaters around the world. People outside China watch this show for over one hundred dollars per ticket.”
He took a disc and looked at it carefully. “Is it mainly dance?” “Yes,” I replied, “A lot of ethnic dance and traditional stories.” He stood up and said, “I have heard about it. How much is it?” I told him it was free. But he took out fifty Yuan and put it in my hands. “Please take it. I have to pay for such a great show.” I said, “Look, the disc says 'not for sale.' I can't take your money.”
Another young man approached us and said out loud, “I've already quit the CCP! Ma'am, can I also have a DVD?” He kept urging the taxi driver to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
I asked the taxi driver if he had already quit these organizations.
The taxi driver said, “I have received a phone call about it. I pressed a key to quit, but wasn't sure if it worked... Please help me make sure. I have joined the Youth League, but not the Party. My name is such-and-such.” I agreed to help him quit the Youth League and told him to remember that Falun Gong is good. He took the DVD and left happily.
Several other taxi drivers at the same location heard our conversation. I also gave them DVDs and helped them quit the Communist organizations as well.
I introduced Shen Yun to a store owner and a customer in the store another day. They were excited upon receiving the DVDs. The woman said, “I'm so lucky to get this! Let me pay for it!” I told her, “This is offered to you for free from Falun Gong practitioners who just want you to have a taste of the real Chinese culture and know that Falun Gong is good.”
She replied, “I know. Falun Gong practitioners are good people. The Communist Party has lost people's hearts by throwing good people into prisons. Please be very careful!” I helped her quit the Young Pioneers and told her to remember that Falun Gong is good. She said seriously, “I will! Thank you so much!”
An Elderly Truck Driver “Stole” Shen Yun DVDs
One time, I distributed DVDs in a truck parking lot. An elderly truck driver asked me to give him a couple of DVDs. He told me, “I have quit the CCP's organizations a long time ago. Could you give me some more of your materials?” I gave him a copy of the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party . He said happily, “This is exactly what I'm looking for. I used to have a copy, but my friend took it before I could finish reading it.” He started reading it right away.
I talked to other truck drivers. When I reached to my purse to get another DVD, I found quite a few sets missing. I looked around and saw an elderly truck driver smiling at me with embarrassment. I noticed his jacket's pocket was bulging.
He begged, “Please let me take these. This DVD is so good! Everyone of them wants one. I don't have enough for them.” I asked, “Have they all quit the CCP organizations?” “Yes, they all did. Who would follow the CCP now?” I was happy for them and gave him my last DVD. He hurried to the group, waving the discs in his hands and yelling with excitement, “Shen Yun! Shen Yun!”
Another day, I took some DVDs to a market to distribute. As soon as I opened my backpack, a big hand grabbed my plastic bag and took all seven discs. The big man stuffed the bag into his tool pack. I said, “Young man! Don't take so many. It would be a waste if you can't use all of them. Let's share them with others.”
He simpered at me and said, “My village is far away from the city. I took some Shen Yun DVDs to my village last year. Everyone loved them. They would like me to get some more this year. I know Falun Gong people are so nice. You made all these with your own money. I thank you on behalf of my fellow villagers.” I felt bad for not bringing more. We chatted for a while and exchanged contact information. I took two more batches of DVDs to him later.
An Elderly Man Who Followed Me
While distributing DVDs, I often run into elderly people who said they didn't know how use electronics. So I mainly gave DVDs to young people. One day, an elderly man followed me around as I distributed DVDs. He walked slowly and limped. As soon as I started talking to people, he would get close to listen.
When I had only one DVD left, I waited for him to get close, and greeted him. He seemed to have a slight speech problem. I asked if he had a DVD player. He answered “yes.” “Would you like to have a Shen Yun DVD?” He said “yes” and happily held out his hands. I gave him my last DVD and asked him if he had joined any Communist organizations before. He said, “I had very little schooling and didn't join any organization.” I told him, “Please remember that Falun Gong is good and you will be blessed.” He nodded and left content. As he walked away, he kept repeating, “Falun Gong is good!”
