(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is on the rise.

The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of some of the practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on October 26-27, 2015.

These lawsuits are mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.

Families Devastated by Persecution

Mr. Yan Jiguo wrote, “My mother had been under great stress. The first time I was arrested, her hair turned completely white in a year. The last time I was detained in Inner Mongolia; she stayed in a small hotel outside the detention center for seven out of the eight months. Even now, she often calls out my name in her sleep, worrying about my safety.”

When Ms. Liu Xiuqin was arrested for the first time, her 10-year-old daughter was left at home by herself, as her husband was a sailor and was almost never home. The little girl took care of herself and visited her mother on the weekends by herself.

Ms. Chen Facui's husband divorced her while she was detained in 2001. A once-happy family was thus torn apart.

Mr. Yan Jiguo (闫继国)

Hometown: Yilan County, Heilongjiang ProvinceDate filed: August 23, 2015

Key FactsMr. Yan, 42, had been illegally arrested seven times, detained four times, and confined in forced labor camps twice between 2000 to 2009. He suffered many kinds of brutal torture in police custody, detention centers, and labor camps. Three times he was released at the brink of death.

After his second arrest, he was sent to Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp in November 2000. Twice, Mr. Yan was confined in a special cell that was only 4 feet high and less than 2 feet wide. In the middle of winter, the floor was covered with ice. His hands were cuffed to metal bars in such a way that he could neither stand straight nor squat down.

Guards forced him to stand barefoot on ice with the windows open, when the temperature outside was below -30C (-22F). After a few days, his hands turned black, and his limbs and feet were severely swollen. He could no longer care for himself. A year later, his mother brought him home and had to provide him full-time care.

In May 2002, Mr. Yan was again sent to Changlingzi Forced Labor Camp. After 11 months of brutal torture, he was released in critical condition.

In 2009, police took Mr. Yan to a detention center in Inner Mongolia. When he went on a hunger strike that would last eight months, he was tied spread-eagle to a bed. Military police violently force-fed him and beat him at the same time. He was released eight months later, barely alive.

Police ransacked Mr. Yan's home after every arrest. His family was also fined multiple times for several thousand yuan each time. Police seized more than 200,000 yuan worth of his possessions in 2009, none of which have been returned.

Current CircumstancesMr. Yan is now free. His mother still suffers anxiety attacks, fearing that her son may be arrested again.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
