(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Jiling, in her sixties, was arrested in public at around 1:40 p.m. on April 29, 2015. According to eye witnesses, four police officers carried out the arrest. Two officers in black uniforms cornered her from both sides, after which a plainclothes officer grabbed her left arm while another plainclothes officer recorded the process with his cell phone.

A passerby who saw the arrest asked an officer why this older lady was being arrested. The officer answered that they simply wanted to ask her a few questions. When another passerby asked the same thing, he said they were paid to do so.

Ms. Yu, who practices Falun Gong, was subsequently taken to the Daminghu Police Station in Jinan, Shandong Province. Her cell phone was confiscated, and her son contacted. He was threatened when he went to the police station to request his mother's release.

The police carried out a search of Yu Jiling's house at 11:00 p.m. that night, without a search warrant. Her Falun Gong books and many personal belongings were confiscated.

Local Falun Gong practitioners suspect that Ms. Yu's arrest was related to recent attacks on Falun Gong published in government-controlled media. It was reported that people had been secretly taking photos of those suspected to be Falun Gong practitioners in local parks.

About two hours after Ms. Yu's arrest, two reporters from a local TV station arrived at the Daminghu Police Station and interviewed the the police station director.

On April 24, several local newspapers including the Jinan Times and the Qilu Evening News published articles defaming Falun Gong. Text messages vilifying the practice were sent out simultaneously through China Mobile and China Unicom networks.

According to analysts, the latest attack on Falun Gong may have been in response to recent events of significance to Falun Gong, including commemoration of the 16th anniversary of the April 25 peaceful protest, the upcoming World Falun Dafa Day on May 13, and withdrawals from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations reaching 200 million.
