(Minghui.org) When Mr. Gu Rongfeng was arrested recently, he told everyone where he was detained the facts about Falun Gong.

His arrest was not approved by the procuratorate, and with help from his lawyer and family, he was released two weeks later.

Arrest

Mr. Gu, 53, is a resident of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. He successfully overcame his addiction to gambling after practicing Falun Gong.

On September 3, he was telling people in Jiangyin City about Falun Gong and that it was being unjustly persecuted, when someone reported him to the authorities.

The police entered his home on September 5 and arrested him. They also ransacked his home and told his wife that he would be sentenced to several years in prison.

Arrest Not Approved

While he was being held in the police station, Mr. Gu told the officers the facts about Falun Gong and refused to renounce his belief.

His family hired a lawyer, who met with him on September 18. The lawyer and his family went to the police station the next morning, and discovered that his arrest was not approved due to lack of evidence.

Police Resist Releasing Him

But the police refused to let him go. They tried to force him to sign a statement guaranteeing to give up Falun Gong as a condition of his release. They also wanted him to sign a receipt for the items they had confiscated to have some “evidence.”

Mr. Gu, his family, and the lawyer refused to cooperate and told the police that they did not want him to go back to his old ways and start gambling again.

The police finally released him on September 19.
