(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Tang Lijuan Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Tang Lijuan, around 80, was reported to police when she distributed information about Falun Gong and was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Yunan Street Police Station in Tianxin District on the evening of June 14, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was arrested the next day. She was later taken to a hospital due to her heart problem.
Ms. Tang was released on bail pending trial on March 3, 2023. She was tried in the Yuhua District Court on April 6, 2023. The verdict was delivered to her in June 2023. She was sentenced to 10 months in prison with one-year probation and fined 5000 yuan. She has constantly been harassed by local police officers.
2. [Beijing] The Case Against Ms. Xiao Fengyi Submitted to the Procuratorate
Ms. Xiao Fengyi from Fangshan District, 75, is a retired teacher. She was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station in the Fangshan District on October 17, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was later released on bail pending trial for one year due to her health. Her case was submitted to the Fangshan District Procuratorate at the end of August 2023.
3. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Mr. Wen Yongshu Arrested and Detained
Mr. Wen Yongshu from Haikou Town in the Xishan District was arrested by officers in the Jinning District on July 31, 2023. He has been held in the Jinning District Detention Center since the arrest. Mr. Wen was officially arrested by the Xishan District Procuratorate on September 1, 2023.
4. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Detained
Ms. Ji Xiangshou from East District, 69, Mr. Zhao Yuming from Renhe District, over 60, and Mr. Wang Yulu from Renhe District, 74, were arrested in the East District People’s Hospital on the morning of September 13, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. The three practitioners are currently held in the Mianshawan Detention Center.
5. [Yuanshi County, Hebei Province] Ms. Du Juan Arrested and Detained
Ms. Du Juan from Xiaoliu Village of Yincun Town was arrested at her home by officers from the Yincun Town Police Station on September 14, 2023. She was taken to Shijiazhuang City.
6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Xiaohua Arrested
Ms. Liu Xiaohua from Lyuyuan District was arrested at home on February 19, 2023. Her home was ransacked. A surveillance camera was installed in front of her house. Her current situation is unknown.
7. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Jinxiu Arrested
Ms. Chen Jinxiu from Jiayu County was arrested and detained for 15 days. She has returned home.
8. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Bo Arrested
Ms. Deng Bo was arrested at home on September 15, 2023. She was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released that evening.
9. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Rongxuan Arrested and Detained
Mr. Wang Rongxuan from Dicun Town of Quyang County was arrested by local police on September 15, 2023. He was placed under 10-day detention.
10. [Shanghai] Mr. Liu Shunming Placed under Surveillance
Mr. Liu Shunming from Maqiao Town, Minhang District, has been under residential surveillance since September 15, 2023.
11. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Xiu Arrested and Detained
Ms. Song Xiu was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in a market and was arrested by officers from the Heya Police Station. She was held for 15 days in the Gaomi City Detention House.
12. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Li Yilong Tried in Court
Mr. Li Yilong was tried in the Yongxiu County Court on September 8, 2023. He defended his innocence during the trial. He collapsed and lost consciousness during the trial.
13. [Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Ying Zhenqiang and Ms. Wang Yuanxiao Taken to Brainwashing Center
Mr. Ying Zhenqiang and Ms. Wang Yuanxiao from Wuyun Town were recently taken to the Xiaoyun Brainwashing Center.
